ShijiazhuangProvincial Capital. Shijiazhuang has become a major industrial city in North China and is considered to be the economic center of Hebei province. The city is the largest base for the pharmaceutical industry and is also one of the most important textile industry bases. Other main sectors include machinery and chemicals, building materials, light industry and electronics. BaodingBaoding is located in the center of the Bohai Rim economic area, which includes Beijing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang. On of the largest employers in Baoding is China Lucky Film, the largest photosensitive materials and magnetic recording media manufacturer in China. TangshanTangshan is an important heavy industry city in North China. Its manufactures include machinery, motor vehicles, chemicals, textiles, glass, petroleum products, and cement. It has been a coal-mining center since the late Qing Dynasty. Tangshan is also called "the capital of porcelain in north China". QinhuangdaoQinhuangdao Port is a strategically important port for China and is the largest coal shipping port in the country. Much of the coal is shipped to power plants elsewhere in China. LangfangLangfang's economy is developing with an emphasis on computers and technology, such that some have dubbed it "China’s Silicon Valley”. One recent development is the Oriental University City. Some 30 universities have been established here with a combined enrollment of about 50,000 students. HandanIndustrial growth in the city has been due to its communication and transport activities. Coal mines at Fengfeng provide power for Handan's iron, steel and textile mills. Chemical and cement plants along with other industries also benefit. ZhangjiakouThe vicinity of Zhangjiakou is rich in coal and iron ore, making it an ideal location for the developing iron and steel industry. Apart from metallurgy, the city is home to one of China's most important grape wine industries, with the Great Wall Wine Company being located in Shacheng, Huailai County. CangzhouCangzhou's urban center is heavily industrialized, but the city's administrative territory also includes strongly agricultural areas. The North China Oil Field is within Cangzhou City's jurisdiction. Cangzhou also encompasses a large fishing port and the modern, coal-exporting Huanghua Harbor.
